Our people need safer roads says ACDP

Oct 1, 2025

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) sends sincere condolences to the families of the 13 passengers who lost their lives on the R81 in Ga-Sekgopong, Limpopo on Sunday. The Quantum minibus the in which Titanic International Church congregants were travelling was hit from behind and crushed between two trucks as they were returning home from a church conference.

To the affected families we pray that God will strengthen and embrace them with the peace that surpasses all human understanding for them to be able to deal with this tragic and extremely painful experience.

The ACDP calls on the SAPS to urgently investigate the cause of the accident to help bring closure to the bereaved families. Immediate intervention by the provincial government to provide help and support to the bereaved families would also be most welcome.

Further, we call on the Minister of Transport, the MEC and the Limpopo Premier to do everything possible to improve road safety with the involvement of all stakeholders.

The ACDP believes that much can be done to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on our roads. Increased visibility of law enforcement officers, as well as larger, ring-fenced road safety budgets are needed. The Department of Transport must also enforce existing traffic laws without fail and take steps to divert freight traffic from our roads to our railway lines wherever possible.
