ACDP sends condolences to family of Prophet, Dwayne Gordon

Oct 7, 2023

The African Christian Democratic Party condemns in the strongest terms, the murder of Prophet Dwayne Gordon, who was a guest speaker at the Eagles Christian Centre, in Newlands, Johannesburg.

It is alleged that about six armed men burst into the church service, opening fire on the congregation. Members of the church were robbed of their belongings, three were wounded and Prophet Gordan succumbed to his gunshot wounds. It must be remembered that, as the ACDP, we lost one of our Councillors, Pastor Myaka in June this year, who was gunned down while preaching in his church in Nseleni, Umhlatuze, KZN. For criminals, the church is no longer sacred.

A few weeks ago, one of our members lost her son, a young policeman who was gunned down, while changing a punctured tyre, on the N2 in KZN. The greed and moral depravity of the criminals drives them into the hallowed walls of Christian worship, intent to cause as much harm as possible.

The rise of violent crime is a dual indicator of the incapacity of SAPS and crime fighting units in South Africa to not only apprehend criminals, but also to prevent crime from occurring in the first instance. Secondly, it is an indication of the rise of moral decadence, a move away from the rule of law and an attack on the Body of Christ as a whole.

The ACDP calls upon the Minister of Police and every other crime fighting unit to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this hideous crime to book. A soft hand cannot be used to fight violent crime and criminals must face the full might of the law. The ACDP is on record, calling for harsher sentences, particularly for violent crime.

We offer our sincere condolences and prayers to the family of Prophet Dwayne Gordon.
