Accept assistance from Israeli water experts amid SA’s water crisis says ACDP

Jul 14, 2023

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) encourages the South African Government to accept the assistance of a group of Israeli water technology experts who met with representatives of the City of Tshwane recently to share their solutions to South Africa’s water crisis.

Effective and reliable service delivery is one of the biggest challenges South Africa faces. This largely being due to municipalities across the country not having the required resources and expertise to fulfil the delivery of basic services to communities.

Some years ago, the Public Servants Association indicated that South Africa does not have enough qualified and experienced public servants necessary to turn government plans, particularly at local government level, into action. Today, at a large scale, this issue remains.

Israel has the means and the expertise to help South Africa. Whilst it is a country that is more than half desert, it is recognised as a world leader in water management and technology that produces 20% more water than it requires.

The ACDP believes that it is time for our government to place the needs of our people above its senseless point scoring and narrow political posturing, and to focus on the plight and urgent needs of those without access to clean water. It is wrong for people to have to travel 3 kilometers to find water, as people in Soweto now must do, because of the ruling party’s hatred for Israel that can get South Africa out of this water crisis.

Under the disappointing leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa our country lacks the requisite qualities that are needed to rebuild successfully. Time has come for South Africans to recognise and accept that the ruling party can never be rehabilitated due to it being more concerned about the party than the country.
