ACDP remembers amaNdebele King Makhosonke II Mabhena

Jun 10, 2026

The African Christian Democratic Party King Makhosonke II joins South Africans across the country in extending its condolences to the royal family, relatives, traditional leaders, and the amaNdebele kwaManala community following the passing of King Makhosonke II Mabhena on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.

King Makhosonke II, who ascended the throne in 1986, will be remembered for championing the preservation of Ndebele culture and heritage. He also made a meaningful contribution to education and community development initiatives that helped uplift the KwaMhlanga communities.

The ACDP acknowledges and respects the vital role traditional leaders play in addressing the social needs of their communities alongside government services. We support their efforts to demand proper service delivery and call on government to enable them to carry out their responsibilities without unnecessary obstacles.

It is our prayer that the passing of King Makhosonke II Mabhena will inspire faster development efforts to improve conditions in amaNdebele communities more broadly, the dream we believe he aspired to achieve.

May his soul rest in God’s eternal peace.
