ACDP mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk

Sep 11, 2025

The ACDP mourns the tragic death of Charlie Kirk in the USA; a fearless advocate for Christian values and free speech. Kirk was shot by an apparent lone assassin on Wednesday afternoon while addressing students at Utah Valley University, and succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

As founder of Turning Point USA, Kirk inspired millions, especially young Americans, to engage boldly in public discourse. He became a widely known media figure hosting “The Charlie Kirk Show” on talk radio, appeared regularly on conservative outlets, and addressed major political conferences including the 2024 Republican National Convention and the 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

All American flags across the world will be flown at half-mast until 14 September in honour of his legacy – an indication of how highly he was regarded. Kirk believed in the power of words over weapons; his murder is a chilling assault on religious and democratic freedoms.

The ACDP extends its heartfelt condolences to his wife Erika, their children, family and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and the many Americans who mourn his loss.
