ACDP urges greater awareness around violence and its impact on children

May 21, 2023

The ACDP wish to send our sincere condolences to the families of the many security guards who have lost their lives in shooting incidents. Police appear not to have released the name of the most recent victim, yet it is hard to tell, there are so many.

This incident again brings to stark reality the levels of violence in our society, and the resultant impact on our school communities.

Our constituency office has dealt with many concerns regarding the safety of our schools both in Western and Northern Cape.

Our schools have become an extension of the violence rampant in our communities. We need to create greater awareness around violence and its impact on children.

Violence is having a toxic effect on our communities and a culture of lawlessness is becoming entrenched with the low levels of prosecution on violent crimes.
