ACDP not surprised by Shivambu’s move to MK party

Aug 15, 2024

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) is not surprised by the resignation of the Deputy President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Mr Floyd Shivambu, as well as the resignation of EFF MP, Mr Mzwanele Manyi, to join the ranks of the uMkhonto we Sizwe party (MK).

It has been rumoured over recent years that some tension and conflict exists between the leadership of the EFF, Mr Julius Malema and Mr Floyd Shivambu, as well as other members of the party who are not happy with the direction in which the party is going. With the resignation now of the EFF’s Deputy President, it would appear that there has been a degree of truth to these rumours.

With Mr Shivambu and Mr Manyi moving over to the MK, it must be recognised that just a few days ago some 18 Members of Parliament from the MK were unceremoniously fired and have since lost their jobs as Members of Parliament. One would certainly hope that in the case of Mr Shivambu and Mr Manyi that they would not be jumping from the proverbial fire into the frying pan. It has also been said that Mr Shivambu was one of the harder working members within the EFF and that his branch was one of the best-performing branches, if not the best, for the EFF.

The ACDP, however, respects the decisions made by members of other political parties who are led by their conscience and guided by the internal processes of their respective political parties, as it pertains to their resignation processes.

It must be mentioned that the ACDP has credible leaders who are capable, trustworthy, and committed to the cause of realising a prosperous and safe South Africa. While our leadership is committed to the ideals and vision of the party, it is wholeheartedly committed to serving the people of South Africa.

The ACDP will continue to strive towards a government that is righteous, trustworthy, capable, and above all a government that fears God.
