ACDP tells government to improve on its preparations for winter

Apr 14, 2023

The ACDP notes the warning by the Minister of Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, who has warned South Africans of a darker and more difficult winter season.

The ACDP has from the beginning expressed that the revival and success of Eskom will not come from the continuous chopping and changing in management, nor will it come through the new electricity ministry. Rather, it will come through committed and ethical good governance, as well as through the positioning of skilled professionals at the power-supply entity.

We would like to urge our government to work harder in their preparations for the upcoming winter season, and we would remind them too of the enormous cost South Africa’s electricity crisis has on the economy – which is as much as R899 million per day. In addition to this, safety and security measures for all South Africans become compromised as criminals see opportunity in the darkness of loadshedding.

As we prepare for the winter season under the lights of a failing ANC-led government, may we be reminded that our fate for our country’s survival lies in the removal of the ANC government next year.
